>How do you guys feel about the fact that Wikipedia is like my only source ever for anything? I guess some people might have a problem with it. I like it. Anyway, from Wikipedia about the rise and fall of a the Republic of Ragusa, a nation and a state that no longer exist, at all. Pictured to the right is an eighteenth-century map of the region. The Republic lasted for nearly 500 years and had a fantastic motto: “Liberty is worth more than gold”. But it’s since vanished and it seems any infrastructure or claims to ethnicity that it once had has now vanished as well. Though according to Wikipedia, it did host it a healthy number of writers and scholars whose work seems to have been preserved better than the cultural heritage of the nation itself.
