>Robert Boyd’s piece “Conspiracy Theory” at PS 1 would’ve have been fucking cool in silence. He artfully compiles scenes of conspiracy theorists from every nook and cranny (people who believe a Reptilian species rule the world, 9/11 conspiracies, 60’s liberal radicals, UFO sighters) on a huge screen and its beautiful. It reads like a composite, video history of America’s paranoia, which is a topic that never ceases to amuse me (I am completely paranoid). But that he sets it to an ear-shakingly loud mix of Kylie Minogue’s “I Believe In You” is fucking the best shit of my life. The song and the video together might be lose my shit in an eerie and loud haze of paranoia and digital, pseudo-futuristic dreamscapes. It was one of those moments, that happen fewer and fewer times the older you get, when the sound of something and the look of something come together in such a way that it almost seems like they mean the exact same thing, like they were made for each other.
